Battletech Match 2
After-action Report
9/15/2019
Played my second ever Battletech match today. Interesting game. The match was a 2 against 2 "meeting engagement" scenario. Provided graciously by my friend Sean as a tutorial game for Ken James and I to have a taste of Battletech. The teams consisted of Ken and I (the good guys) up against Sean and James's dastardly green behemoths!
The match was mostly a battle for the center. Each team was assembled to have a heavy mech, a light mech, a assault mech, and a artillery mech. It began eventfully with a miraculous shot by the Griffin (By yours truly) using it's P.M.C. cannon at long range against Sean's Hunchback Mech.

Not only did it hit, the shot was a critical damaging the mech past it's armor plating, causing it to tumble to the ground! Meanwhile Sean's Spider mech ran around the flank to shoot the Thunderbolt (Also under my command, *sigh*) to deliver just deserts. Like a banshee, the Thunderbolt would book it forward. Sadly, the Spider would give chase. Ken's Awesome heavy mech (literally called Awesome) would advance toward the center to take aggro and exchange fire with Sean's Battlemaster Heavy Mech and James's Wolverine Mech on the other-side of the hill. As for our scout, the locust was sent to flank around the hill to the right with the intent of harassing the Hunchback. Realizing the threat the Battlemaster posed, Ken and I would focus all forces towards the Battlemaster instead.
After the initial few turns, the direction would become clear. As Ken and I prioritized fire on the enemy Heavy Mech (Sean's Battlemaster) our opponents targeted basically everything else. If we had a mech facing the wrong direction, chances were, it take a bullet... err... shell to the back. Our mistake was prioritizing the Heavy mech for as you'd imagine it had the armor to take shots six ways to Sunday. Between the Spider mech sabotaging the rear, the Griffin's guns overheating and the locust

having to be redirected, the game would end with a decisive victory for team green. Though we'd succeed in slaying the Battlemaster, it wouldn't secure our victory. Though not as glorifying a outcome as I'd hope, it was a joy to play nevertheless.
