This is Not a Test After Action Report #2
1/5/20
Evening Gents, and may I extend a radiation-warm welcome from the wasteland! On the fifth of January, a battle over a microwave would take place. Not just any old microwave, but a special microwave known as a harmonic oscillator. A strange device originally designed for mining before the war, now a curiosity from a bygone age. Anyway, four gangs would covet this treasure. A gang of marauding raiders (controlled by Sean), a clinking collection of androids (David), A strike team of peacekeepers (James, of baconfat fame), and finally; a group of devolved mutants (Ken). Carnage would take the town, but as the four gangs would find out. . . the town is not as it seems.
By the end of the first turn, the gangs found out the town was not abandoned but infested with man eating worms! Coming in at approximately 20 feet long and five feet wide, tentacles sprouting from there maws, they were a force to be feared. The scenario, which James and I intentionally kept the group uninformed, was known as "Worms of the Wastes". A scenario introduced through the "Kick-start the Wasteland" supplement. Defiantly a recommended scenario, we had a lot of fun here.
Much of the reason Worms of the Wastes was chosen was this was a Introduction game for the gents who played this scenario (exception of James) and considering the countless skirmish games these guys would have played, James and I really wanted to make a strong case for T.N.T.. And what better a introduction for a post apocalyptic world then a group of survivors fighting over loot, to be rudely interrupted by giant abominations of the wasteland?
As for the match itself, it was a close game. Dave's machinations ended up winning the game by score alone. Sean and Ken ended up being neck and neck for second place, with James in dead last. James was plagued by atrocious dice roles as well as his forgetting of his teams abilities. Not to mention, Ken activated a devastating telepathic wave that frightened half of James's team off the table, including his leader! It was a particularly hectic game. Most of the points came from inflicting casualties on each other ending with neither party claiming the objective. Sean's team coming the closest. The worms proved as ferocious as there appearance would suggest. With the teams being delayed by a couple of turns as well as a number of characters falling victim to there appetite. In retrospect we should have doubled the number of worms per turn, for the rate we used was intended for a 1v1 match as opposed to a 4 way free-for-all match we played here. Nevertheless, the operation proved successful, and another tale is graced upon the wasteland.
Thanks for reading friend, till next time!

What's this!?! A worm emerges! |
The first worm of the game happened to be the model I provided. The model is a Chthonian from Rafm's Call of Cthulhu line. It was a lot of fun to paint. |
The raiders advance on the "Fartland" dairy trailer. Model provided by James. |
The mutants seize the Red Rocket gas station. |
The Chthonian springs to action! |
First victim! |
Another worm emerges! One of James's models. On behalf of this operation, James took the trouble to make no less then five of these. The model being made from sweat and clay. All of them produced, assembled, and painted within 48 hours. Hats off, James! |
Dave's robots slaw the monster! Hooray! |
The first Chthonian claims it's next victim! |
He hardly had a chance! How could he fight back being wrapped up in all those tentacles? |
Casualties are inflicted amidst the crossfire between Ken's Mutants and Sean's raiders! |
A third worm emerges! |
Dave's assualtron charges and falls to the Chthonians! |
